Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE)
The Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) program aims to help parents help treat children and adolescents with anxiety disorders and OCD. The parents attend the treatment sessions to learn skills and tools to help their child overcome their anxiety. The treatment focuses on changes that parents can make to their own behaviors, rather than making their child change. The two main focuses are to have the parent respond more supportively to their anxious child and to reduce the accommodations they have been making to the child’s symptoms.
